Get to know our new Psychologist, Dr Hayat Hussein...
We’re delighted to welcome Dr Hayat Hussein to our in-house Psychological Services Team here at UKIM.
Where did it all start?
I have always enjoyed being a listener and connecting with others through it. I explored my interests through paid and voluntary jobs in the NHS and charity sector, which included roles as a support worker and assistant psychologist. Completing an introduction course in counselling skills further confirmed my passion in becoming a psychologist. I was able to complete a bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the University of West London and a doctorate in Counselling Psychology at City, University of London.
Since qualifying as a Counselling Psychologist I have been able to work in many different settings such as NHS, private and charity sectors, which offers me diversity in my work. I specialise in trauma-focused therapies and working with clients presenting with histories of severe and multiple traumas. I have a keen interest in community psychology and considering how social, cultural, and political contexts can influence individuals and communities.
Day-to-Day at UKIM:
I am joining UKIM as a Counselling Psychologist and my role will include delivering therapeutic interventions, psychological assessments and reports. I am excited to be joining UKIM and the range of opportunities and creativity the job role will bring.
Fun Fact:
I enjoy baking and swimming; both are great ways for me to unwind.
